Is There a Secret Money Mindset?

You know, one of the things that drives us financially is the fear of loss. And if you’ve been around for a while, and you’ve only got to take one look at this face to see it’s been around for a long time, then you know, perhaps you’ve built up some assets and, you know, we start to play the game differently. Because we start to look at, you know, how do I make sure I don’t lose what I’ve have built up so far.

And I think this is one of biggest handicaps you can ever suffer from.

So I’ve just been working with some clients who are going through bankruptcy. They’re my age and they’re going under. And initially that looks like, and feels like, a horrible thing. But man you should see the sense of freedom on these people’s faces when we say: You know what? What will you do now? How will you organize your life? How would you like to derive your income?

So, what I’m gonna suggest to you, is that you spend some time imagining that you have lost it all. That it’s all gone down the gurgler and you’ve got to start again.

Now, most people say that I don’t have the courage to do that, but I think that’s, you know, a little bit like make believe. What you’ve got to do is say to yourself, well I wouldn’t starve so I’d obviously get on with it after I got over the shock.

So, the thing about losing everything is how would you do it differently? Where would you live? What would you do? What would you do to earn your income? How would you do it smarter instead of the way that you have been doing it now?

Having come up with that list, and I’m serious about doing that, having come up with that list, then I would say to you, why not make those changes now?
